What is a COVID-19 Antibody test?

Your body develops antibodies when it fights infections. A COVID-19 antibody test
helps determine whether you have ever been infected by the virus. A positive test
result means that you have or had the COVID-19 virus. Antibody tests for
COVID-19 can be booked either through a Malady testing site or a Malady
healthcare partner.
As a standard practice, you should get in touch with your healthcare provider to
check whether they offer antibody tests or if you should get one.

If I have COVID-19 antibodies, do I still need the vaccine?

While possessing antibodies to the virus that causes COVID-19 offers you
immunity and protects you from getting reinfected, it is currently not known
how long this protection lasts. The virus may mutate or change as the pandemic
continues, and it has not been determined yet, whether recovery from the
infection can protect you from further mutated virus variants in the future.
Hence, the best course of action would be to talk to your primary care doctor and
see his/her expert opinion on the matter.
